Despite my best efforts, you can obviously tell I’m having trouble popping by here with any kind of frequency these days. I’d like to blame it on the still-not-napping-almost-two-year-old (2!!), or my work, or the book I’m supposed to be writing, or the teenagers locked down for some intense exam studying, or the 3,628 birthdays we’re celebrating this month, or the books I’ve been reading via candlelight as I add more hygge to my life. While all of those things certainly do come into play, I really think I haven’t been around much mostly because I can’t decide what to write about these days.
Do I tell you about our adventures in feeding a toddler? Or those of the teenagers, who, to be honest, don't really want me writing about them all that often. One of the boys was recently at a party and approached by a girl who professed her affection for his mother’s kale salad (Gatherings, pg.149). Can you imagine anything more embarrassing? Speaking of kale salad, do you want to know about the one we can’t stop eating? Or the lowbrow casserole my kids can’t stop talking about? Really, what do you want to read about these days?
I ask because, while I do feel connected to all of you lovely readers, I’d love to know more about you. How long have you been reading the blog for? How many people do you cook dinner for? How old are you? How old are your kids? Do you even have kids? Do you like to read? What did you have for breakfast this morning? What type of cooking are you into these days? 30-minute meals? Make-ahead meals? Toddler meals? One-pot meals?
I’ve been planning some posts for the coming year and giving a lot of thought to what I would like to write about, but I would also really love to know: what would you like to read about? What would you like to discuss? What food issues do you relate to the most these days? I think knowing more about you will ultimately help me decide what to blog about.
So, let’s talk! And thank you so much!!
P.S. Please feel free to leave anonymous comments if that's more comfortable for you. :)
P.P.S. My love turns 50 today! Here's a peek at the cake I made him for a party this past weekend.
